About Endocrinology India

Endocrinology India is a patient education website about hormone and metabolism conditions: thyroid problems, diabetes, obesity and weight, PCOS, menopause, testosterone, growth and puberty, and a few less common conditions. It is written for patients and families in India, with Indian foods, Indian lab report formats and medicines available in India in mind.

Who is behind this site?

The site is run by Dr. Om J Lakhani, MBBS, MD, DNB (Endocrinology), an endocrinologist in Ahmedabad. He is available full-time at AB Plus Hospital, Thaltej, S.G. Highway, Ahmedabad, where he sees patients in person and online. You can read more about him on his profile page.

Dr. Om also runs the @EndocrinologyIndia YouTube channel. Many pages here draw on what he explains in those videos, and the videos section gives a written summary of the patient-friendly ones.

Simple tools, such as a BMI calculator and a thyroid report reader, in the tools section. They help you understand numbers; they do not diagnose you.
On every page, a “when to see an endocrinologist” box that lists the warning signs that need a doctor.

How the pages are written

Pages are drafted with the help of AI tools from Dr. Om’s own clinical notes, lectures and video transcripts, then pass automated safety checks before they go live. Many pages, including all pages at launch, are published before Dr. Om has personally reviewed them, and those pages say “Medical review pending” at the top. What this site is not

This site is for general education. It cannot diagnose you or replace a consultation with a doctor who knows your history. Please read the medical disclaimer.
